FY 2012 IPPS proposed rule published, open for public comment

The proposed rule for changes to the hospital Inpatient Prospective Payment Systems (IPPS) for acute care hospitals and Fiscal Year 2012 rates is on display and open for public comment through June 20. Included in the regulation are proposed changes to the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting Program, formerly known as the Reporting Hospital Quality Data for Annual Payment Update (RHQDAPU) program.

The proposed rule, CMS-1518-P, was posted April 19 and published in the May 5 Federal Register. The proposed rule can be accessed from the FY 2012 Proposed Rule page of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) website.
