New Notification System to alert hospitals on APU compliance issues

January 14, 2009

A mechanism has been launched to alert hospitals to potential compliance issues surrounding their participation in the Reporting Hospital Quality Data for Annual Payment Update (RHQDAPU) program.

Events triggering notifications

The new APU Notification System issues automatic e-mail advisories to senior hospital executives and registered QualityNet users (with specific user-roles) whose facilities’ revenue could be at risk because one or more RHQDAPU program requirements have not been met. Notifications will be sent at specified intervals when:

  • an active QualityNet Security Administrator for the hospital is not in place
  • inpatient clinical data has not been received for the approaching submission deadline
  • patient population and sample size data has not been received for the approaching submission deadline
  • requested validation medical records have not been received

Optional notifications can also be sent to designated QualityNet users when patient-level data has been submitted to the QIO Clinical Data Warehouse on the provider's behalf.

Customizing notifications

While the e-mail notifications to senior executives are automatic, other hospital staff with active QualityNet accounts may designate delivery preferences on the My Account page of My QualityNet.
