System Requirements

In order to utilize the secure portion of the QualityNet website, you must have, at a minimum, the following equipment and software:

Computer/Processor

A minimum of a 330 MHz processor with a minimum of 125 MB free disk space

To locate this information:

• Right-click on the My Computer icon on the desktop
• Select properties from the drop-down list
• Click on the General tab
• The size of the processor will be listed

Operating System

Windows XP

To locate this information:

• Right-click on the My Computer icon on the desktop
• Select properties from the drop-down list
• Click on the General tab
• The operating system will be listed

Memory

256 MB of RAM minimum

To locate this information:

• Right-click on the My Computer icon on the desktop
• Select properties from the drop-down list
• Click on the General tab
• The amount of RAM will be listed

Internet

An Internet Service Provider and 54 kbps modem or high speed connection

Browser & Settings

1. Internet Explorer version 6.0. or 7.0 (Click here to download Internet Explorer from the Microsoft website at no cost.)
   
   To locate this information:
   
   • Open Internet Explorer
   • Click on the Help menu option at the top of the page
   • Select About Internet Explorer from the drop-down list
   • The version will be displayed
   
   
2. The security level for your browser's Internet zone must be set to the equivalent of Medium or lower
   
   To locate this setting:
   
   • Open Internet Explorer
   • Click on the Tools menu option at the top of the page
   • Select Internet Options from the drop-down list
   • Click on the Security tab
   • Click on Internet to highlight it (in the area at the top where you can select a Web content zone to specify its security settings)
   • Click on the Custom Level button at the bottom of this box
   • Verify that the Custom Settings field (at the bottom of the Security Settings box) is set to Medium or lower
3. You must have adequate operating system rights that will allow you to properly install programs and modify the registry of your workstation.
   
   
4. In order to access My QualityNet, port 80 and port 443 must be open to outgoing and incoming traffic. Port 80 is required to access the public areas of QualityNet. Port 443 is required to login and access the secure areas of QualityNet. Please contact your I.S. Staff or the QualityNet Help Desk for assistance locating this information.
   


5. In order for messages to display, your Web browser must be set to allow pop-up messages from QualityNet.org. Please contact your I.S. Staff if you need assistance.

Additional Software

You must have the following:

1. Adobe Acrobat Reader (available for download from the Adobe website at no cost)


2. Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.5.0_09 (available for download from the Test Your System page) minimum; JRE version 1.6 or higher recommended (available for download from the Java website at no cost).
   
   To locate this information:
   
   • Click on Start
   • Under Settings, select Control Panel (Classic View)
   • Click on the Java icon
   • Select About
   • The version will be displayed
3. Java Security Policy Files (available for download from the Test Your System page)


4. WinZip version 7.0 or greater (or compatible zip programs using default compression settings) for Zip file creation to upload data.
